Wire Wrapping a Cabochon

Basic Wire Wrapping Class (2)

When: Thursday, March 23, 2023 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Where: SeaBreeze Recreation Center, Destin Room

Instructor: Greg Vollendorf

What will be covered: Basic wire wrapping class (2) taught by Greg Vollendorf that will continue to reinforce wire wrapping techniques.   We are trying to build skills in wire wrapping so you can use those stones that you or someone else have cut and shaped.  Practice makes perfect!!!

Tools Required

  • Needle nose pliers
  • Round nose pliers
  • Flush Wire cutters
  • Small dowel rod or pencil to make a bail

Supplies Required

  • 1 oval gemstone cabochon – approx. 40x30mm (1 ½” x 1”)
  • 20 or 21 gauge dead soft wire – 3 pieces at 15” long each – NOTE: Dead Soft will make it much easier to work with as a beginner
  • (3 pieces) 20 or 21 gauge dead soft wire (square wire preferable) 15″ long
  • (3 pieces) 24 or 26 gauge dead soft wire (half round wire preferable) 4″ long
  • (1 piece) 24 or 26 gauge dead soft wire (half round wire preferable) 6″ long 

Additional Information

The Club has a couple of loaner sets of tools but having your own set of tools is invaluable.
