Plan to attend this very important business meeting of The Villages Gem and Mineral Society. The meeting will start at 6:00pm, Thursday, March 4.
The meeting has been moved to the Sea Breeze Recreation Center card room rather than our usual workshop space. If you haven’t attended any of the SIG meetings or special classes in the card room, it is right next to our usual space. The advantage is the card room allows for 56 people with social distancing.
Business meetings are open to all members of The Villages Gem and Mineral Society. Attending meetings is an important part of your membership. Thanks in advance for coming!
COVID Protocol: Masks (not face shields or neckerchiefs) must be worn at all times and social-distancing is expected. We are committed to the safety of all members!
As always, we will have our $1 raffle after the meeting, so be sure to buy a ticket and stick around for your chance to win great prizes donated by members.
Following that we will have a SUPER RAFFLE! Tickets for this raffle will be $5 and you will have a chance to win almost brand new “the original II Tote-Ally Cool” crafters’ tote bag. These totes were originally $45, and are no longer available retail. You may be able to find one on eBay, but expect to pay $35+. So this is a great deal.

REOPENING WORKSHOPS is the major topic of discussion for this meeting, so be sure to attend to hear all the news and workshop updates, and to voice your thoughts and any concerns you may have.
The Board met and it was decided that we would be reopening our workshops at the beginning of March. This means that you could be back to grinding and polishing as early as Sunday, March 7.
Both Sunday and Thursday workshops will both be four hours in length.
Thursday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 and Sunday morning from 8:00 to 12:00 (that is one more than we used to have.)
There will no longer be specifically assigned time slots for the workshops.
Wire Wrapping/Jewelry Making SIG
Wire Wrappers can also rejoice as the reopening of workshops includes this group.
The SIG will continue to meet on the fourth Thursday of each month for a project session and on the first Thursday of each month to complete their projects or to socialize and attend the business meeting.
We will publish the WW/JM schedule as it is established.
Membership Waiting Lists
There are quite a few people on a waiting list to join TVGMS, and we will likely be scheduling specific time slots for them to expect to be able to access machines.
New member (from the waiting list) training probably will not begin until April.
Details regarding the training program will be announced at the business meeting.
COVID-19 restrictions and regulations
We are still being mandated by the most current COVID-19 restrictions and regulations. Requirements for attendance and participation will be laid out in the next couple of weeks.
